<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A science fair has always been a time to trot out the tried and true projects which served to get passing and even exceptional grades for generations before. </p>
<p>Of course, with the availability of solar energy science projects, there is now a new way of not only wowing the teacher and the other students, but actually incorporating some new kind of learning into the science or social studies classroom.</p>
<p>As a teacher, you may specify that this year’s science fair should focus on solar energy. Science projects associated with this kind of lesson plan may be found online and are part and parcel of a recycling and alternative energy curriculum. </p>
<p>For the ambitious instructor, this may also be an excellent opportunity to compare and contrast solar power with wind or water energy. Of course, if may take a bit of help to get the parents on board with this new way of doing science fairs as well.</p>
<p>Begin by sending home printed information on solar energy, science projects for various grade levels, and also materials lists. Remember that parents are very involved when it comes to science projects, but they may have never actually dealt with solar power before. In fact, for many parents this is actually their very first foray into solar energy as well!</p>
<p>From the classroom, solar energy science projects are a great way of introducing a larger circle of consumers to this clean way of generation electricity. Who knows, while the kids are learning about sun power, the parents might also pick up quite a bit of info and before long switch over to solar power in the home.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>More and more people each and every day now realize that we must look to alternative energy sources for the future. The two easiest to take advantage of, and most readily available, come from the sun and wind. Basically, that&#8217;s the reason <a href="http://www.solarwindenergys.com" target="_blank">DIY Solar Power</a> has become so popular. Manufacturers charge an incredible amount of money to homeowners for their solar power systems.</p>
<p>The cost is still exorbitant but the wonderful thing now is that homeowners can make and install their very own solar panels. And it can be done for a fraction of the cost. It sounds complicated, but building solar panels are very simple in practice. Just about all hardware stores stocked the tools and materials needed to complete the project.</p>
<p>Just about anyone that gives it an honest effort can do it because there are no specialized skills required. DIY solar power enthusiasts are a community of sorts and help each other through forums on the Internet as well as in other ways. Hobbyists and homeowners alike are finding that it can be quite rewarding to go green.</p>
<p>The cost of electricity will be reduced in a significant way, if not eliminated. The resale value of the home is also enhanced. The improvement in tech knowledge makes building solar power systems possible for just about anyone. It&#8217;s made of solar cells, batteries and mounts. Constructing solar cells is how the process begins.</p>
<p>The individual cells then work in tandem to turn the sun&#8217;s rays into electricity. The completed cells are then wired together which form the battle. It is the cells working in tandem that creates a functioning panel. The end product is called a photovoltaic solar panel. While photovoltaic sounds like an intimidating word, it simply means turning light into electricity. After that it must be installed on the home.</p>
<p>Electricity generated is then stored for later use, used immediately or sent to the utility company for credits. May be using the word sold is a bit misleading. What happens is that the house is wired to the electrical grid and the homeowner sends their excess electricity to the utility company.</p>
<p>Credits are rewarded to the homeowner that can be used to offset their electric bill. When enough credits are earned to eliminate the entire cost of the bill, it is known as going off the grid. Sounds pretty appealing doesn&#8217;t it? That&#8217;s because it is. <a href="http://www.bloggersbase.com/blogs/Greendiy15/diy-solar-power-generate-electricity-home/" target="_blank">DIY Solar Power</a> saves quite a bit of money and those absolutely no damage to the environment.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Here are some basic facts about solar energy for the home.</p>
<p>A home solar power system has several standard components they are as follows:</p>
<p>* PV Modules or solar panels (to turn solar energy into electricity)</p>
<p>* A charge controller (this is an electrical device that prevents batteries from overcharging and from power running from the batteries into the solar panels).</p>
<p>* Batteries, to store the electricity for night time usage.</p>
<p>* An inverter (an device which changes the electricity created by the solar panels into electricity ready for use in your regular household wall sockets). Solar panels create Direct Current DC and a household runs on A/C Alternating Current.</p>
<p>* In the case of a hybrid home solar system, an automatic switch to get current from the electrical grid, or some other power source such as a generator would be included as well. The advantage of using a hybrid system is that you will not be dependent upon solar energy alone.</p>
<p>* A 1-kilowatt home solar system is sufficient for most households.</p>
<p>* A 1-kilowatt home solar system will provide roughly 1,600 kilowatts per year in a sunny climate (receiving 5.5 hrs of sunlight each day) and about 750 kilowatt hours per year in cloudy climates (receiving 2.5 hours of sunlight each day).</p>
<p>* A 1-kilowatt home solar system is uses about 10-12 solar panels, and requires about 100 square feet of installation area (which could be the roof of your home or a section of land on your property).</p>
<p>* A 1-kilowatt home solar energy system reduces waste and pollution by about 170 pounds. of coal from being burned, 300 pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere and 105 gallons of water from being consumed each month! A big step toward protecting our environment, in other words.</p>
<p>* With battery back up, a solar energy system can provide electricity day and night, no matter what the weather conditions. Other options, which include back-up generators and grid-tie systems, provide total security.</p>
<p>* On average a 1-kilowatt home solar system takes about 1-2 days to install and costs around US$10,000 (though prices are coming down), but can vary greatly and does not take into account any tax incentives offered by the government for reducing carbon emissions.</p>
<p>* Most systems come with a 5-year warranty, although the solar panels are warranted for 20, and as technology advances some are even coming out with a 30 year warranty.</p>
<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;</p>
<p>Installing solar power into one&#8217;s home is a great way to help clean up the environment and save money as well. </p>

Jobs are lost on a grand scale, and the United States workforce is scrambling to reeducate, retrain and switch professions. Amidst the recession, there is a single field that is soaring with opportunities. </p>
<p>That is jobs in alternative energy such as solar. Green collar jobs are being created thanks to the environmentally friendly use of energy in businesses and homes. </p>
<p>Careers in solar energy range from making solar panels, installing them, and servicing them. Moreover, other careers in solar energy include the manufacture of home solutions that allow for an easy plug and play adaptability of various <a href='http://www.sunjuiced.com/residential-solar-power/' target=_blank >solar panel options</a> in modern new home construction. Yet, did you know that the demand for trained solar technicians does not end with the home itself but instead goes much further and deeper than that.</p>
<p>Other careers in solar energy deal with the various public use venues that now rely on solar energy for lighting, signage, and several mechanical aspects of doing business. </p>
<p>What is more, the large scale harnessing of solar energy requires not only installers and technicians, but also administrators and electricity flow designers who can adequately manage the alternate sources of energy concurrently with the conventional means of providing electricity. Training for solar energy careers is available at some junior colleges as well as online.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Grants from the government have been offered to stimulate agriculture, industry, residential development, utility expansion, commerce, science and public enterprise. They may reduce the cost of manufacturing or operation. They may lead to added research and development. </p>
<p>They may help people afford technology that will benefit the world. Grants renewable energy focuses on solar energy sources, geothermal sources and alternative wind energy sources. For right now, grants renewable energy can help pay for new heaters, solar panels, roofs, appliances, windows and more. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.solarpowerenergygeneration.com/grants_renewable_energy.html" target='_blank'>resource renewable energy</a><br />Rather than approve outright grants renewable energy checks, state and federal governments often like to offer tax rebates instead. However, House Bill 473 provides money up front, rather than after-the-fact tax credits. The new measure could pay for up to 35% of the resources renewable energy cost of a project or as much as $100,000 to $500,000, depending on the technology. </p>
<p>Federal grants are also available for up to 30% of a project&#8217;s cost, making the total subsidy 65%. So if turbine wind energy was something of interest to a business owner, he or she would only have to pay 35% of the cost to install turbine wind energy or solar supplies sources. </p>
<p>The U.S. Department of Energy offers grants renewable energy funds through a Weatherization program and a State Energy Program. Weatherization grants help low-income families reduce their utility bills and create more energy efficient homes through installing new heating/cooling systems, new windows, insulation or some other approved renovation. </p>
<p>For farmers, one of the best grants renewable energy programs is called the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), established in May 2008 as part of the Food, Conservation and Energy Act.Interested citizens can get more information from www.doe.gov or www.focusonenergy.com. </p>
<p>In addition to resource renewable energy programs, there are other ways to save money by making resources renewable energy upgrades. Bank or government loans for energy may bring down the interest rate to save investors thousands of dollars. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.solarpowerenergygeneration.com/grants_renewable_energy.html" target='_blank'>sources wind energy</a><br />Cash rebates can inspire responsible purchases by offsetting the cost differential between a regular appliance and an Energy Star appliance, while putting money back into the buyers&#8217; pockets quickly. </p>
<p>Lastly, Energy Efficient Mortgages allow homeowners to qualify for larger mortgage loans if there are wind, geothermal, hydro or solar energy sources on the property. </p>

Jobs are lost on a grand scale, and the United States workforce is scrambling to reeducate, retrain and switch professions. Amidst the recession, there is a single field that is soaring with opportunities. </p>
<p>That is jobs in alternative energy such as solar. The environmentally friendly procurement of energy and its various way of being utilized in the home or in business has given rise to the formation and development of green collar jobs which require filling. </p>
<p>Careers in solar energy include the manufacture of solar panels, the installation of said panels, and of course also the servicing of them, once installed. Moreover, other careers in solar energy include the manufacture of home solutions that allow for an easy plug and play adaptability of various panel options in modern new home construction. Trained solar technicians are in demand with homes, but beyond that as well.</p>
<p>Other careers in solar energy involve public use venues which use solar energy for lighting, signs, and mechanical aspects. </p>
<p>What is more, the large scale harnessing of solar energy requires not only installers and technicians, but also administrators and electricity flow designers who can adequately manage the alternate sources of energy concurrently with the conventional means of providing electricity. Training for <a href='http://www.sunjuiced.com/' target=_blank >careers in solar energy</a> is available at some junior colleges as well as online.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Solar energy was first used in the 1800s. As a source of power for the home, <a href='http://www.sunjuiced.com/' target=_blank >solar energy</a> hasn&#8217;t proliferated as it has with calculators and wristwatches. Solar power got off to a rough start in the previous century.S. experienced oil crises or embargos. But its proliferation has not yet been accomplished, mainly due to its cost.</p>
<p>As we begin a new century, replenishable energy sources are a big topic once more. Steps are needed to save our planet, including using fewer fossil fuels. Since the sun is an abundant energy source, we need only to harness a portion of its solar power to meet our present energy demands. Solar Panels in just 4 percent of the worldâ??s desert area is sufficient to provide electricity for the whole universe. </p>
<p>By utilizing <a href='http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/solar-panels/' target=_blank >solar panels</a>, it is possible to tap into the sun&#8217;s energy source. Unless you have a background in chemistry, you cannot understand fully the working of solar panels. However, each panel is a collecton of photovoltaic, in layman&#8217;s terms. (PV) cells. Each PV cell is made of highly-purified silicon. Silicon acts both as an insulator as well as a metal. The light from the sun is captured by the PV cells, and creates solar power by producing electricity. </p>
<p>Electrons come away from the panel when sunlight makes contact with it. An electrical current is created, which can either be used immediately or stored for later use. Since the sun is intermittent, and since PV cells do not store energy, the excess power can be stored in deep-cycle rechargeable batteries.</p>
<p>Solar panels work quietly and do not produce radiation. Solar power is generated with no moving parts; therefore, the panels require no maintenance. Each of the 14 types of PV cells is made of some kind of silicon. It is now most common to use solar panels as a supplemental energy source for utility customers, rather than as their sole energy source. Your building&#8217;s roof or its windows can have solar panels built right in. Facades and canopies are also suitable applications.</p>
<p>At the present time, research is being conducted to develop newer types of solar panels. The goals are increased effectiveness in harnessing <a href='http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/solar-conversions/' target=_blank >solar power</a>, as well as reducing its cost. we can take advantage of all the power the sun has to offer.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Solar Pool heaters can greatly reduce your energy costs. They&rsquo;re more cost effective than either gas or heat-pump swimming pool heaters. You&rsquo;ll be able to save on annual operating costs once a solar pool heater system is installed. Best of all, a solar swimming pool heater can be used in most climates.</p>
<p>The typical <a href="http://www.swimming-spas.com/" target=_blank >solar pool heater system</a> consists of a solar collector, a filter, a pump, and a flow-control valve.</p>
<p>- The solar collector is the device which the pool water passes through and gets heated by the sun.</p>
<p>- The filter removes the dirt and debris before the water is pumped into the solar collector.</p>
<p>- The pump is the what circulates the water through the filter and solar collector, and brings it back into the swimming pool.</p>
<p>- And finally, there is the flow-control valve. It is either an automatic or a manual device, which redirects the water through the solar collector.</p>
<p>A solar pool heater system works in the following manner:</p>
<p>The water from the pool is pumped through the filter and then enters the solar collector, where it is again heated before it returns to the pool. In hot climates, the solar collector can also be utilized to cool the pool, by circulating the water at night.</p>
<p>Some solar pool collectors use sensors and a valve, which redirects water through the solar collector when the collector temperature is greater than the pool water temperature. When both temperatures are the same, the filtered pool water will not return to the collector but will simply return to the pool.</p>
<p>There are different types of solar pool heaters. They differ in the types of materials they are made out of. You will need to find out which type is best for your region&rsquo;s climate, and how to use it.</p>
<p>There are glazed and unglazed solar collectors. If the temperature in your area reaches above freezing, then you&rsquo;ll probably just need an unglazed solar collector. This is made out of heavy-duty plastic or rubber, treated with a UV light inhibitor. Unglazed solar collectors are cheaper than their glazed counterparts, because the parts are inexpensive, and their design is simple.</p>
<p>Glazed solar collectors are typically made out of copper tubing and aluminum plates with iron-tempered glass covers. These are quite expensive, but in colder weather, this type of system is more efficient in heating pool water than unglazed collectors are. Glazed solar collector systems can also be used as domestic hot water heaters. Both types of solar pool heating systems need to have freeze protection when used in harsh cold weathers.</p>
<p>As you can see, solar pool heater systems can be a good investment. You&rsquo;ll save a lot of money in terms of energy costs, in the long run.</p>
<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Solar power homes are the most recent technological innovations in the field of engineering and science. People have long searched for fresh ways to live economically amidst the crisis occurring in the country. The budget allotted to pay for electricity is significantly crippling for families in the middle class, which is the majority of the general population. The answer to the recurring question of how to live cheaply, but appropriately is the creation of solar power homes. </p>
<p>Homes powered by the sun are made possible through the technology of solar panels. Solar panels are made out of several components which are cheap, but effective. These include photovoltaic cells, semiconductor plates, converters, conductor wires and a battery.</p>
<p>Electrical companies around the country install solar power homes with the needed equipment to allow power diversion from the sun into electrical storage. The fee for these services is reasonably low considering the fact that long-term reliance on renewable, solar energy will save households thousands of dollars a year.</p>
<p>Instructions on how to assemble and establish working conditions for these systems are found in many scientific electronic books, journals and websites. Here is an overview:</p>
<p>- Basically, the photovoltaic cell is the one responsible for utilizing the energy found in the sunlight. It splits the molecular components of the sun&#8217;s rays into electrons, protons and neutrons. </p>
<p>- The subjects of interest are the electrons, which in a collective state, supply ample electrical power to make appliances such as televisions, radios, refrigerators, and ovens work. </p>
<p>- The electrons are separated from the other molecules and are passed through the conduction pathway of wires and converter plates. This further cleans out the rest of surplus molecular particles, which is important to prevent electrical problems such as failure, disruption and surges. </p>
<p>- The final step in the utilization of sunlight as an energy source is the storage of the isolated electrons in the battery. The battery used is usually large in size to be able to accommodate large amounts of power which could supply homes days at a time. </p>
<p>- The recharge rate during the day is enough to provide the necessary power to supply the battery. </p>
<p>- The sun&#8217;s energy produces no significant emissions and nature-damaging products from the mechanisms which produce electricity. This is a good measure of how effective it is in producing electricity in an ecologically friendly manner.</p>
<p>The existence of solar power homes is a tribute to the innovation of technology with respect to the consciousness on protecting our planet. Research has shown that almost half of the pollution rate comes from power plants, oil refineries and other electrical producing companies, which result to massive production of byproducts that disrupt normal biological cycles. The destruction of the ozone layer and global warming are some of the degrading effects of energy production to nature. </p>
<p>The future of solar power homes is considered brighter due to the constant research by scientists and ecologists in collaboration with engineers and mechanics. By taking advantage of the sun&#8217;s tremendous energy, we can save money and preserve the planet&#8217;s condition at the same time.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When you think about solar energy, you may think of those funky looking houses that have those weird looking panels on them. solar energy has many uses beyond those of producing electricity for houses or for cars. The <a href="http://www.solarpowerfast.com/" target='_blank'>advantages and disadvantages of solar power</a> are many, small electrical gadgets can be powered by solar energy in lieu of a battery unit or any outlet plug-in. gadgets such as cell phones, GPS units, and laptops can be solar energyed. The main disadvantage is that they only produce energy when they are in direct sunlight.</p>
<p>Here are some additional <a href="http://fwdmagazine.com/buildsolarpanel/" target='_blank'>advantages and disadvantages of solar power</a>. You can alter and customize your solar panels and battery array to collect any amount of energy you wish up to the threshold. After the threshold, or when the battery array is full, the solar energy is just being reflected from the solar panels. The battery should be compatible with the device you want to use it for. How many times have you been out fishing or camping and your cellphone battery array goes out? Most people carry cellphone adapters for their automobiles so that they may recharge the battery array in their motorcar. This is fine if the engine is on or the engine has been used to charge the battery array in the car. But running the engine is a cause of pollutants and other toxic materials which you are releasing out into the environment just by charging up your cellphone.</p>
<p>By having a cellphone solar powered battery charger, you are able to take your cellphone outside and leave the solar cells out in the direct sun. You can even do this inside on a windowsill that is directly influenced by the direct sun. You don&#8217;t have to worry about where to plug in your charger, you just have to worry about where the direct sun is and how long the solar panel needs to stay out to charge a battery array. It is convenient and easy-to-use, although a little expensive.</p>
<p>As applied science advances and the demand for solar powered contraptions increases, prices should go down and the applied science should be accelerated. Right now only 1% of all houses in the United States are powered by solar energy. If we think outside the box and go beyond the dwelling there is an entire world of tools that can be powered by the sun. All it takes is a little imagination and a little inquiry and someday soon we will be out of the grips of fossil fuels and nonrenewable energy. There are plenty of <a href="http://www.solarpowerfast.com/advantages-disadvantages-solar-power/" target='_blank'>advantages and disadvantages of solar power</a> but the advantages are far out weighing the disadvantages and as applied science moves forward, this gap will only increase.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Solar panels are made out of several components which work together in a complicated manner to alter the sun&#8217;s heat and energy into usable, renewable electricity. But how do solar panels work?</p>
<p>This is a basic question that requires scientific knowledge and extensive research. Experts have allotted a great deal of resources to deal with the issues involved in energy conversion. The technology behind solar panels is constantly improving since many institutions around the world are heavily invested in this technology.</p>
<p>People around the world are depending on the sun, since this is a practical source of energy and can be established anywhere. The only crucial requirement to maximize the panel&#8217;s capability is visibility and exposure to the sun. </p>
<p>The process by which solar panels work is a very extensive and complicated conversion of different energy sources into a usable energy. The question can best be answered through several simple steps that have all the scientific processes involved.</p>
<p>Basically the parts and material used to create solar panels include semiconductor plates, a photovoltaic cell, batteries, and electrical wires. </p>
<p>The heart and soul of the unit is the photovoltaic cell. It is the component which absorbs electronic molecules from the sun&rsquo;s light, allowing it to be used and stored as electricity. </p>
<p>- The first step in the process begins when the sunlight comes into contact with the photovoltaic cell. This cell basically dissects sunlight into its basic components. These are the protons, electrons and neutrons. The photovoltaic cell absorbs only the electrons since they are the ones needed to generate and store electricity.</p>
<p>- The second step is the transport of electrons to the conductor wires. The semiconductor plates are the materials which filter the electrons and transport them to the conductor wires. This is a very rapid process. </p>
<p>- The third step is the passing through of electrons into the conductor wires. Wires with lengths as long as several hundred yards are used, since the constant process of electron extraction requires several channels to transport them. At this phase, the concentrated amount of electrons is considered as raw electricity and can power several electronic devices at this stage.</p>
<p>- The fourth step is sending the electrons through the energy converter, which actually filters out the other unwanted molecules to avoid power disruption. This is very important to assure that the content stored would be pure electrons.</p>
<p>- The final stage that answers the question of how do solar panels work is the storage of the gathered electrons in the battery. By this time, the batteries contain the electricity, which can power any electronic device. The batteries are connected to a bigger battery or power source to have a collective measure of the amount of electricity produced. </p>
<p>Since the sun&#8217;s rays shine almost every place in the world, it can be set up virtually anywhere. Millions of dollars are saved yearly by people relying on solar panels.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the world advances, new technologies arise &#8211; or, in some cases, older technologies are exhumed and improved upon.</p>
<p>Although most people are under the impression that the field of photovoltaics is a new subject, based on recent invention, this is not actually the case. But first of all lets take a look at what &#8220;photovoltaic&#8221; means.</p>
<p>The word &#8220;photovoltaics&#8221; can be split up in to two parts: &#8220;photo&#8221; and &#8220;voltaic&#8221;. The term &#8220;photo&#8221; is derived from the Greek word &#8220;phos&#8221; which means &#8220;light.&#8221; A &#8220;volt&#8221; is a measurement unit for electrical force. So, literally, &#8220;photovoltaic&#8221; means &#8220;electricity through light.&#8221; And that is exactly what the word means: &#8220;capturing solar energy in the form of light and converting it into electricity.&#8221;</p>
<p>So how do we convert sunlight into solar energy and electricity?</p>
<p>In order to convert sunlight into electricity you need to use a material called a &#8220;semiconductor&#8221;.</p>
<p>In simple terms, a semiconductor is a material that acts as an insulator, but is also able to conduct electricity under certain conditions. We employ the characteristics of semiconductors when we convert solar energy (in the form of sunlight) into electricity. It is done as follows:</p>
<p>When a semiconductor (such as silicon) is exposed to light, it releases small amounts of electrical energy. This is due to the process of electrons (bits of electricity) leaving the surface of the semiconductor, in response to being hit by light. We call this the &#8220;photoelectric effect.&#8221;</p>
<p>Sunlight is made up of &#8220;photons&#8221;, which are particles of solar energy. Not all photons are the same and not all carry the same amount of energy. A simple explanation for this is that light comes in many colors. Some forms of light are visible to the eye, while some forms are invisible (such as ultraviolet or infrared light). But, regardless of color or visibility, the fact remains that light is still light and the basic particle of light is still a photon.</p>
<p>When a photon hits a photovoltaic cell (also called a &#8220;PV cell&#8221; for short) one of three things occurs:</p>
<p>1. The photon can be reflected by the photovoltaic cell</p>
<p>2. The photon can be absorbed by the photovoltaic cell</p>
<p>3. Or (believe it or not) the photon can even pass right the photovoltaic cell. Only the photons which are absorbed by the photovoltaic cell are converted into solar energy (in the form of electricity).</p>
<p>When a photon is absorbed by the semiconductor (the material in the photovoltaic cell which produces electricity) the solar energy of the photon is passed to an electron in one of the atoms of the semiconductor. With this additional energy the electron is able to break away from its atom. Thus an electrical current is generated.</p>
<p>This is the simplicity of what occurs in a photoelectric cell, when sunlight is converted into electricity. The electricity so produced can now be power an electrical device.</p>
<p>As you can see, the field of photovoltaics consists of the technology and the principles we use to convert solar energy into a usable form.</p>
<p>- Photovoltaic Systems</p>
<p>Now that we know what a photovoltaic cell is and how it works, lets take this a step further and take a look at what a photovoltaic system is.</p>
<p>A photovoltaic system has consists of the following components:</p>
<p>- A &#8220;photovoltaic module&#8221;, or &#8220;pv module&#8221;. This is a group of photovoltaic cells connected together, commonly referred to as a solar panel, though the terms &#8220;PV module&#8221; and &#8220;solar charger&#8221; are used to describe it as well.</p>
<p>- One or more batteries to collect and store the solar energy, which was converted into electricity by the PV modules (or solar panels, solar chargers, or whatever you choose to call them).</p>
<p>- A &#8220;charge controller&#8221;. This an electrical device which prevents the batteries from being ruined through overcharging, and which also prevents electrical current from flowing back out of the battery into the PV module or solar panel.</p>
<p>- &#8220;An inverter.&#8221; An inverter an electrical device which changes the electricity produced by the PV modules into alternating current. Alternating current is the type of electricity you get from your wall sockets at home. An inverter is only used with PV systems when you want to produce alternating current as your end result. If you run your house on solar energy, the inverter is installed between the batteries and the fuse panel.</p>
<p>A good quality PV system will operate for more than twenty years. The PV module, having no moving parts, has an expected lifetime exceeding thirty years. Most system problems occur due to poor or sloppy installation.</p>
<p>So how much electricity is generated by a photovoltaic system?</p>
<p>The average PV system will generate about 180 kilowatt-hours per square meter, in most areas of the United States.</p>
<p>A PV system rated at 1 kilowatt will produce 1800 kilowatt hours per year.</p>
<p>In case you are not clear on what a &#8220;kilowatt-hour&#8221; is, this is a way of measuring the amount of electricity produced or consumed.</p>
<p>Let me put it in monetary terms, which might be easier to understand. Many PV panels are guaranteed to last twenty years or more &#8211; most even claim to last thirty years. Even if we factor in the natural loss of efficiency in the PV modules over a period of twenty to thirty years, a PV system will generate close to 36,000 Kilowatt-hours in twenty years and 54,000 kilowatt hours over thirty years.</p>
<p>This is the equivalent of $10,000 worth of electricity at current energy prices.</p>
<p>Therefore, though initial installation of a PV system might seem a little costly, in the long run it is far cheaper to run on solar energy.</p>
<p>There are different types and sizes of solar panels (photovoltaic cells) which produce varying amounts of solar power.</p>
<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you want a cost effective way to generate hot water for your home then consider solar water heaters. You can use them in any climate and the fuel is completely free. Solar water heaters consist of storage tanks and solar collectors. There are two types of solar water heating systems: active which feature circulating pumps and controls; and passive which don’t. </p>
<p>Among the active solar water heaters there are two types. The first is a direct circulation system which circulates household water through the collectors via a pump and into the house. This system works in climates that don’t experience freezing temperatures. Second, there is an indirect circulation system which pumps a non-freezing, heat-transfer liquid through the collectors and a heat exchanger. The water that flows into the home is heated. This system works no matter what temperature the climate is.</p>
<p>Passive solar water heaters have less expensive system than the active solar water heaters, but they aren’t as efficient. There are also two types of passive solar water heaters. The first is an integral collector-storage passive system. These are best for climates that don’t drop below freezing. </p>
<p>They are also ideal for homes that have more daytime and evening hot water needs. Second there is a thermo syphon system which pumps water through the system when warm water rises and cool water sinks. These systems are very reliable, but roof design is a factor due to the heavy storage tank. These are often the more expensive passive solar system as well.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Every need you have can be met by the nature around you. The sun is an example of nature that you don’t even have to look for. The sun is the source of life and now it is a source of solar energy that you have likely heard about. Today, solar energy is being studied to be used in thousands of purposes. </p>
<p>Solar energy is starting to be using for everything from heating system to thermal power plants and many other uses. Solar energy is something that many have read about, but haven’t paid much attention to because it is commonly referred to, but you don’t see it in practice much.</p>
<p>However, solar powered cars are a subject that causes many to stop and think for a moment. Solar powered cars are a promising future concept that many want to live to see. In fact, a world full of solar vehicles only would be a wonderful place. </p>
<p>You could drive anywhere without having to worry about running out of gas, you wouldn’t have to wait in line at the gas station and you wouldn’t have to pay for gas. Not only could this help you improve your standard of living, but it would also make things a lot easier.</p>
<p>Since the mid 19th century solar powered cars have been in existence in one form or another. Each year their numbers increase and organization have races each year. Solar powered cars have been the source of thousands of dollars of investment. </p>
<p>A solar powered car operates simply. Batters installed in a light bodied car can charge themselves from solar energy. The energy is then converted into an electrical energy that runs the motor. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For a very long time, scientists have always looked into utilizing solar energy as an unconventional way of harnessing energy to meet human needs. Further researches have now given us various machines that work on this type of unconventional energy. Now we have prototypes of solar powered cars, solar heated homes and even solar powered heaters. Some of these amazing machines have now been extensively disseminated and are now available for use in many green homes in areas of the world.</p>
<p>In order for our homes to have heated water, running turbines and conditioned to our preffered temperature, we need first to collect the energy that the sun gives off. The utilization of solar panels is one method of harnessing solar power. <br />The sun&#8217;s thermal energy is picked up by these shiny black panels providing electricity to any connected appliances that operate on solar power.</p>
<p><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DFDn6eTV0jQ&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DFDn6eTV0jQ&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></p>
<p>A certain appliance can only operate on solar power depending on the power of each grid on a solar panel. These grids are called photovoltaic cells or photovoltaic modules. They are arranged on the solar panel in a way that they could make the most of the collection of sunlight and then use the obtained energy efficiently. These photovoltaic arrays are now massively manufactured because of the large demand for it, hence the costs of producing them have greatly lowered.</p>
<p>Semiconductors allow photovoltaic cells to use the heat of the sun and transform it into electricity. Commonly these cells can be seen in certain large facilities, emergency telephones and even in your solar-powered calculators. Now it is becoming more and more possible to insulate your home and heat your water with the use of this technology, because of the lower cost of creating and maintaining solar panels. Do-it-yourself <a href="http://www.solarpower-kits.com" target='_blank'>solar power kits</a> are also offered now that can help you <a href="http://www.solarpower-kits.com" target='_blank'>generate solar power</a> at home and greatly ease your dependence on commercial power at a much lower cost.</p>
<p>Although the creation of solar panels and the use of solar energy itself have lowered in price, it is still rather costly compared to the use of most conventional energy. So if you are thinking of using solar energy to heat your water and insulate your home, also consider the following tips and reminders.</p>
<p>-Doing a comprehensive study on the solar panels different providers have to offer can be very helpful. This way you can end up with the best solar panel and heating package that suits your energy needs at home and the amount you are willing to spend. What you must search for is the package that lets you heat water, insulate your home and power essential electrical apparatus.</p>
<p>-Solar hot water systems can heat different sources of water in your home. You can get it to produce hot water straight from your faucet, and even heat the water in your swimming pool. This is also one of the things you should take note of when inquiring for any heating package.</p>
<p>The concept of solar panels can be very economical and practical in many ways. Since electronic grids and gallons of fuel are nearly impossible sometimes to ship, especially to isolated areas, the use of solar energy may be the only solution. Far-off areas such as deserts and islands almost always have sun all year round which greatly suits the application of using solar power. Solar panels are easier to ship, even to the most isolated areas where conventional energy sources are unattainable. Solar panels are also easily transported in boats and airline carriers which require energy, but not the bulk of electric grids and gallons of fuel.</p>
<p>Notwithstanding the upsides of solar power, it is still costly compared to grid-based electricity. Also the photovoltaic cells technology that we have is still limited that a number of these are required to produce enough electricity to supply bigger needs. This means more costs for purchasing and maintenance. And since you need a large area with more photovoltaic cells, this is not advisable if you live in a suburban area where space may be limited. Another thing is that solar cells only produce direct electric current which first needs to be adaptedto alternate current, or AC. This can result to about a four to twelve percent energy loss.</p>
<p>The use of solar energy to heat water and your home is a great way to save the environment and money in the long run. It helps to do a comprehensive research about <a href="http://www.solarpower-kits.com" target='_blank'>home made solar power</a> first before thinking of using it in your own home. Weighing prices and doing a lot of inquiry can bring you the best package that will suit you and your budget.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With the rapid advancement of solar power we are now seeing new products enter the market containing &#8220;integrated solar panels&#8221;.</p>
<p>For example, solar shingles. Essentially, these are ordinary roof shingles which are made out of photovoltaic materials. They perform the same function as an ordinary roof shingle, but have the added capability of producing electricity.</p>
<p>The advantage of these thin &#8220;solar panels&#8221; is that they can now be integrated right into one&#8217;s building materials &#8211; so instead of having solar panels on your roof, you would now have a solar roof.</p>
<p>Aside from being more desirable from an aesthetic standpoint, this also eliminates the need for the installation of bulky and heavy &#8220;traditional solar panels&#8221;.</p>
<p><strong>How are Solar Shingles Made?</strong></p>
<p>Advancements in solar power technology, such as the inventions of solar ink and other combinations of semi-conductors, have made it possible to combine or include photovoltaic materials in with a wide range of other products and materials. Solar cells no longer need to be made out of bulky heavy weight silicon panels, but can in fact be printed on just about any type of material &#8211; such as plastic, metal, and others. Researchers have even found ways to produce organic photovoltaics, though that is at the moment still in a purely experimental phase.</p>
<p><strong>Benefits of Solar Shingles</strong></p>
<p>- Attractive style</p>
<p>- Fully integrated shingle roof</p>
<p>- Lower electric bill</p>
<p>- Free electricity</p>
<p>- Pollution-free power</p>
<p>- Increased home value</p>
<p>- Protects the environment</p>
<p>- Exceptionally durable</p>
<p>- Great investment</p>
<p>- Significant state cash rebates available</p>
<p>- Federal tax incentives available</p>
<p><strong>Costs and Financing</strong></p>
<p>To be honest, right at this moment solar shingles might still seem expensive to some, but as any new technology develops its products become cheaper with time. However it does look as though the cost will be considerably lower than installing a comparable set of conventional solar panels. In one recent example, the entire cost of a solar shingle installation on a home was about $16,000, with a $12,000 tax rebate. This brought the entire cost to only $4000. Not only is that considerably lower than the usual cost involved in installing a home solar power system, but one has to keep in mind that the cost of tiling or shingling a roof is covered at the same time. These are, after all, shingles as well as solar panels.</p>
<p>Clean energy cash incentives and tax rebates are available at a federal level, and most states also have a clean energy or sustainable energy source rebate program. This, combined with energy savings, does make them affordable, and will in most cases pay for itself over time.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Solar power is taking the world by storm and with just cause. Solar power is now being used in homes and businesses instead of traditional power sources supplying the power.</p>
<p>Rapidly, more and more consumers are leaning toward solar power for their main source of energy.</p>
<p>With <a title="Buy Complete Solar Kits for your Home" href="http://www.siliconsolar.com/?bid=26&amp;partner=shendison" target="_blank">solar panels</a> being easy to install, many people are choosing to convert their home by themselves! While there are many pros of solar power, there are a few cons as well.</p>
<p>Take a look at these lists to see if solar power is a viable option for you!</p>
<p><strong>Pros</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Solar power saves money (lower heating bills)!</li>
<li>Solar power is predictable, as the sun rises each day!</li>
<li>Solar power saves the environment (it produces no emissions)!</li>
<li>Solar power conserves oil and coal typically used for electricity!</li>
<li>Solar power can provide heating, cooling and lights!</li>
<li>You can install solar panels yourself!</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Cons</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>To convert a large building or residence can be expensive, initially.</li>
<li>Solar panels can be installed yourself, it can be difficult.</li>
<li>You may not save as much on energy bills as it cost to convert your home.</li>
</ul>
<p>Overall, the choice to switch to solar power is a good one. There are a multitude of great reasons you should switch and only a few negative aspects associated with solar energy. After all, it always feels great to do the right thing, “go green” and do your part to conserve the environment!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Imagine a T-shirt that runs you iPod, a pair of jeans that recharges your cell phone, and a beach umbrella that runs a TV. Sound far-fetched?</p>
<p>Okay, I will agree with you that it does.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, research into photovoltaics and solar energy has reached a point where these are definite possibilities.</p>
<p><b>What Are Organic Photovoltaics?</b></p>
<p>Organic Photovoltaics, or OPV for short, are new types of semiconductors which are based on organic materials.</p>
<p>Though they are still in the research phase, OPVs can be made as thin flexible sheets, and as such they can be incorporated into cloth or paper.</p>
<p>Due to the fact that they are flexible they can be mass-produced at low cost. So another result of this advanced research could be low-cost mass-produced inexpensive solar cells.</p>
<p>For more information you may also see <a href="http://www.findportablesolarpower.com/solarenergy/thinfilmsolarpanels.php" target='_blank'>Thin Film Photovoltaics</a>.</p>
<p><b>What are Semiconductors?</b></p>
<p>Rest assured, whether you understand the below or not, it won&#8217;t affect whether a solar charging T-shirt will work for you (if it ever hits the market).</p>
<p>But I will try to explain it in simple terms, just so you have a better idea of what we are talking about.</p>
<p>The following is a brief description of semiconductors are.</p>
<p>Semiconductors (organic or not) are materials that have either too many free electrons, or have a scarcity of electrons.</p>
<p>Semiconductors with too many free electrons are called &#8220;N-type semiconductors&#8221; amongst scientific types of people.</p>
<p>Semiconductors that don&#8217;t have enough electrons are called &#8220;P-type&#8221;. P-type semiconductors have &#8220;holes.&#8221; Holes are places where there the atom &#8220;theoretically&#8221; should have an electron, but does not. (Which just goes to show that reality and theory don&#8217;t always match up.)</p>
<p>By combining materials that have these qualities, we are able to make electrical components such as transistors (transistors are devices which help regulate the flow of electricity).</p>
<p>Some semiconductors are sensitive to light when they are stuck together. It is these semiconductors that are used in photovoltaic cells. When they are exposed to light, a tiny electrical current is created. This is not a new discovery.</p>
<p>But, as stated earlier, it is new that we are able to create a semiconductor out of organic materials. And that opens the door to a whole new range of possibilities.</p>
<p>Incidentally, computer chips are usually made out of semiconductors. So this new discovery might have some interesting applications in the field of computers.</p>
<p>Humanized robots? Artificial intelligence? Who knows.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thin Film Solar Panels are made up of a lightweight and flexible material which can be rolled up and easily transported. Thus, they are very useful as a source of portable solar power.</p>
<p>The following are some basic facts about Thin Film Solar Panels:</p>
<p>Any person who has ever used a solar-powered calculator has had &#8220;hands on&#8221; experience with Thin Film Photovoltaics. This technology has been with us for years, creating the solar cell strips which are used to power calculators</p>
<p>Thin film technology has now evolved to a point where we can mass-produce solar panels, through the use of machines not unlike printing presses.</p>
<p>The substance used to &#8220;print&#8221; thin film solar panels is called solar ink.</p>
<p>Solar ink can be made in any color. In fact, it is possible to design the inks in such a way as to make use of different parts of the light spectrum.</p>
<p>Solar presses print thin film solar panels called solar rolls. A solar roll is 13 inches wide and can be up to 2400 feet long.</p>
<p>A solar roll can be cut to the required size after the solar ink has been printed onto it.</p>
<p>The electrical connections in a solar roll are automatically welded in by laser. This takes away a lot of the time which is required to construct our &#8220;conventional&#8221; solar panels.</p>
<p>Once solar technology reaches a cost effectiveness, of $1.00 per watt, its prices will be competitive with conventional fossil fuels. TFPV is rapidly approaching this benchmark and could possibly beat this in the near future.</p>
<p>Solar ink can be printed onto fabrics, plastics and metals, allowing one to design solar panels for a wide range of products, each tailored to their specific needs.</p>
<p>Thin film photo voltaic solar panels are not as effective as solid solar panels. It&#8217;s the fact that it is so much cheaper and lighter than conventional solar panels, that gives it the &#8220;edge&#8221;.</p>
<p>The U.S. military is extremely interested in the development of thin-film technology, and spent 1.7 million dollars at one laboratory last year in order to facilitate the development of thin film photovoltaics. It&#8217;s interested in using thin film photovoltaics for troop communication devices and to reduce the heat signatures when troops using conventional generators.</p>
<p>Solar shades and tents are now available, using thin film photovoltaics, that provide up to 2kw of power. This allows them to operate laptops, communication devices, TVs and much more.</p>
<p>Thin film photovoltaic devices are now widely available on the consumer market. A good example of this is the flexible Brunton Solarroll which comes in several sizes.</p>
<p>A thin film flexible solar panel weighing less than a pound is capable of recharging a laptop. Due to its flexibility, it can be rolled up and transported easily.</p>
<p>Thin film photovoltaics are also a realistic source of emergency power. This makes them a handy and economic addition to emergency preparedness kits and wilderness survival kits.</p>
<p>Current research on thin film photovoltaics is aimed at increasing the power output of thin film solar panels, should it achieve this goal there is a very good possibility that we will have solved the problem cheap clean renewable energy.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Photovoltaic cells—those black squares an array of which comprises a solar panel—are getting more efficient, and gradually less expensive, all the time, thanks to ever-better designs which all them to focus the gathered sunlight on a more and more concentrated point. The size of the cells is decreasing as their efficiency rises, meaning that each cell becomes cheaper to produce and at once more productive. As far as the aforementioned cost, the price of producing <a href="http://topsolarpower.info/advantages_and_disadvantages_of_solar_power.html" target="_blank">solar power</a> per watt hour has come down to $4.00 at the time of this writing. Just 17 years ago, it was nearly double that cost.</p>
<p>Solar powered electricity generation is certainly good for the environment, as this alternative form of producing <a href="http://topsolarpower.info/advantages_and_disadvantages_of_solar_power.html" target="_blank">solar power</a> gives off absolutely zero emissions into the atmosphere and is merely utilizing one of the most naturally occurring of all things as its driver. Solar collection cells are becoming slowly but surely ever more practical for placing upon the rooftops of people&#8217;s homes, and they are not a difficult system to use for heating one&#8217;s home, creating hot water, or producing electricity. In the case of using the photovoltaic cells for hot water generation, the system works by having the water encased in the cells, where it is heated and then sent through your pipes.</p>
<p>Photovoltaic cells are becoming increasingly better at collecting sufficient radiation from the sun even on overcast or stormy days. One company in particular, Uni-Solar, has developed solar collection arrays for the home that work well on inclement days, by way of a technologically more advanced system that stores more energy at one time during sunlit days than previous or other arrays.</p>
<p>There is actually another <a href="http://topsolarpower.info/advantages_and_disadvantages_of_solar_power.html" target="_blank">solar power systems</a> available for use called the PV System. The PV System is connected to the nearest electrical grid; whenever there is an excess of solar energy being collected at a particular home, it is transferred to the grid for shared use and as a means of lowering the grid&#8217;s dependence on the hydroelectrically-driven electricity production. Being connected to the PV System can keep your costs down as compared to full-fledged solar energy, while at once reducing pollution and taking pressure off the grid system. Some areas are designing centralized solar collection arrays for small towns or suburban communities.</p>
<p>Some big-name corporations have made it clear that they are also getting into the act of using solar power (a further indication that solar generated energy is becoming an economically viable alternative energy source). Google is putting in a 1.6 megawatt solar power generation plant on the roof of its corporate headquarters, while Wal Mart wants to put in an enormous 100 megawatt system of its own.</p>
<p>Nations such as Japan, Germany, the United States, and Switzerland have been furthering the cause of solar energy production by providing government subsidies or by giving tax breaks to companies and individuals who agree to utilize solar power for generating their heat or electrical power. As technology advances and a greater storage of solar collection materials is made available, more and more private investors will see the value of investing in this “green” technology and further its implementation much more.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/solar-solutions/" target=_blank >Solar energy</a> has been around for as long as the sun has been in existence. Since the first days, when glass was used to magnify it, people have tried to harness the free energy the sun provides daily. Solar energy is a popular option because it requires little human effort (once harnessed), is abundant and is free to utilize. </p>
<p>Thus, it also helps human reduce their dependence on other resources like oil and gasoline. Solar energy is used for many purposes including, to heat homes/businesses, to cool homes/businesses, lighting, water distillation/purification and cooking. </p>
<p>Currently, photovoltaic (PV) cells and panels are the most popular method of harnessing solar energy. Experts can use photovoltaics to make photons put electrons into a higher state of energy, thus creating electricity. Research in this area is increasing rapidly and it’s becoming the fastest-growing area in energy technology to date.</p>
<p>In addition to the PV cells, there are concentrating solar methods used for solar energy. These methods use lenses, mirrors and other equipment to focus the sunlight in a small concentrated beam, which can then be used as electricity. </p>
<p>People are becoming more aware of how solar energy can help the environment and save them money over time. Thus, more business owners and homeowners are choosing to make the transition to solar powered energy. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/solar-panels/" target=_blank >Solar panels</a> are being installed in homes all over the world and can even be installed by homeowners themselves. The panels are “charged” by the sun throughout the day. The reserve energy is then used throughout the night hours, if needed for lighting and other forms of energy.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Today’s homeowners are more interested than ever before in “going green”. People all around are talking about how they can help conserve energy, save money and save the environment. Thus, solar power is becoming and more popular option for people everywhere. <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/solar-solutions/" target=_blank >solar energy</a> for homes is now an affordable and easy option for global conscious homeowners. </p>
<p>Most often, homeowners choose to have solar panels installed on their roof. Basically, this allows them to heat, cool and light their home with the power of the sun. All day, the sun’s rays charge the solar panels and energize the home. Then, the reserve energy is used throughout the evening hours as well. This allows homes to fully operate on the energy provided (at no charge) by the sun.</p>
<p>In addition to heating a home, solar energy for homes can do much more! Many people are choosing to use solar power to heat their outdoor pools. Solar powered pools allow the water to be heated, naturally. This provides a much more cost efficient way to heat the water and provide a warm haven for swimming.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/solar-conversions/" target=_blank >Solar energy</a> for homes not only saves money, but the energy conserved helps save the world. The dependence on oil and gas for energy is no longer a problem with solar energy in the picture. As technology in solar power continues to progress, more people will be leaning on the power of the sun for basic energy needs. With solar power being abundant and free, there is no reason anyone shouldn’t consider making the solar transition.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/" target="_blank">Solar power</a> is making headlines again and with the skyrocketing fuel costs, the recent rate hikes of the utility companies, and of course also the much overdue market innovations, it is not surprising that so many consumers are looking to the sun to fulfill a lot of their energy needs.</p>
<p><strong>What do you do with solar energy?</strong></p>
<p>If you have some solar panels installed on the roof of your home, you most likely have found a savvy way of lighting and heating your home.</p>
<p>Charging your batteries throughout the day free of charge – courtesy of the sin – and then using this stored up energy in the evening or even throughout the day to keep cool, warm, and overall comfortable.</p>
<p>On a much smaller scale you might decide to use a solar cooker that operates with little more than a reflector lid and some aluminum foil. Although it is not conducive to cooking up a three course meal, it comes in handy heating up things and reaching temperatures of up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.</p>
<p>At the same time, a <strong><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/solar-powered-gadgets-and-gizmos/" target="_blank">solar powered pool heater</a></strong> is sure to provide you with some backyard comfort as you get ready to enjoy the lazy days of summer without leaving home.</p>
<p>Even commercial applications are now found for <a href="http://www.renewablepoweroptions.com/category/solar//" target="_blank">solar energy</a>. There is the use of signage that is illuminated in the evenings with solar energy stored up throughout the day.</p>
<p>Other uses are still evolving, but it is only a matter of time until solar energy is as commonplace as dependence on oil and gas is today.</p>

</ul>
<p><strong>Procedure</strong><br />
(1) Solder the three solar cells in series with the help of connecting wire, as shown in the diagram. When the cells are connected in series, the voltage is increased by three times, which is sufficient to charge the battery (the voltage of a single battery is 1.25V). The current remains the same. Each 2&#215;4 cm solar cell will produce about 0.45 volt and 0.275 amp of usable current.</p>
<p>(2) Mount the cell on a board with the help of Velcro or any other material you can think of (e.g. Self-sticking Hoop-And-Loop Fasteners).</p>
<p>(3) Connect the battery holders in parallel.</p>
<p>(4) Connect the battery holder to the solar cells.</p>
<p>(5) Mount the battery holders with the rechargeable batteries, on the board.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/solarcell.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-178" title="Solar Cell Image" src="http://www.sunjuiced.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/solarcell-300x171.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="171" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/series1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-179" title="Series Arrangement Image" src="http://www.sunjuiced.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/series1-300x181.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="181" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/series2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-180" title="Parallel Arrangement Image" src="http://www.sunjuiced.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/series2-300x172.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="172" /></a></p>
<p>(6) Place the board with the cells and battery holder in direct sunlight. It can be laid horizontal, but it is better to tip up the board towards the direction of the sun. This increases the efficiency of the solar cells.</p>
<p>(7) Use rechargeable batteries that are dead.</p>
<p>(8) If you have a voltmeter at home, you can check the voltage in the batteries, at intervals.</p>
<p>(9) It should take approximately a day to charge the batteries.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Precautions</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Make sure that the solar cells are placed in full sunlight with no shadows falling over them. Be careful while handling the soldering gun. Wear safety glasses! If you want to avoid the soldering, an enclosed solar module could also be used for this experiment. Note: The battery holders have batteries connected in parallel; therefore, the voltage remains the same and the current is divided.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">You can find most of the material required around the house, like the wire or board. However, for your convenience, listed below are all of the items required for the experiment, which are available at Radio Shack.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/fig3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-181" title="Solar Batter Charger Image" src="http://www.sunjuiced.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/fig3-300x233.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="233" /></a></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Solar energy used to be considered the energy source of choice for the tree hugging, granola eating set. Since then the cost of fossil fuels has skyrocketed and virtually every major power supply conglomerate has raised the rates of supplying the public with electricity and other sources of energy.</p>
<p>Suddenly, <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/solar-technology/" target=_blank >solar energy</a> is not looking so bad anymore and with the help of public pressure, solar energy investment trends now encompass the spending of not only the private investor by also the governmental backer.</p>
<p>Meeting the energy needs of the average home is overall not an expensive proposition and many a homeowner has chosen to combine the understanding that environmental damage must be avoided while a stable form of sustainable energy is still much preferred to periodic blackouts.</p>
<p>Although in the past the cost of the photovoltaic panels on a home was considered prohibitive, anymore this technology is hailed as a long term investment and those who are investment savvy recognize the trends and are willing to enter in for the long haul.</p>
<p>While private solar panels now present sleek and technologically advanced additions to any home, the commercial applications are also quite impressive. Areas in California and other locales where sunlight is plentiful now sport vast fields of nothing but solar panels harnessing the sun’s energy power and those who got in on the ground floor of this investment opportunity are laughing all the way to the bank.</p>
<p>Yet it is not too late. Solar energy investment trends prove to be a long-lived proposition and most likely will be around for a while yet.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Solar water heating is an important area for <a href="http://www.renewablepoweroptions.com/" target=_blank >renewable energy</a> development. Heating water is one of the basic needs in our everyday life. Solar hot water systems can be used to heat swimming pools and to provide hot water in homes and industry. You are strongly urged to design your own models by using the one given below as an example.</p>
<p>The procedure described above for building a solar cooker is also very similar for solar water heating. Instead of cooking food, you can heat water. The only additional material required is a large zip-lock bag filled with one gallon of water and laid flat in the bottom of the box.</p>
<p>For a simple solar water heater, start off with a single cardboard box, painted black on the inside. The box should be shallower than the cooker, but tall enough so that the plastic wrap does not touch the zip-lock bag. </p>
<p>Fig 2. Simple Solar Water Heater Testing Procedure</p>
<p>Place a gallon of cold water in your solar water heater. The testing procedure is the same as that described for the solar cooker. Think about any improvements that would increase the efficiency of your solar heater.</p>
<p>Experimental Options</p>
<p>You can experiment with your own designs, using various options like:</p>
<p>• Use a black metal box instead of cardboard.</p>
<p>• Use a different material for reflectors.</p>
<p>• Use glass instead of plastic wrap for the glazing (or try it with no glazing).</p>
<p>• Use the box without the reflector.</p>
<p>• Use various other containers like dark cookware, a plastic garbage bag, soda bottle or hot water bottle instead of plastic zip-lock.</p>
<p>• Try coloring the water with food coloring or ink.</p>
<p>• You can be creative and experiment to find out which design and material is most effective!</p>
<p>Renewable energy resources like the sun and wind play a major role in the development of a sustainable energy future.</p>
<p>The younger generation, especially, have to understand that the issue of energy has a major impact on their futures.</p>
<p>For this reason, there is a great need for education about renewable energy options, such as solar energy. As well, many of the environmental concerns of the earth are due to pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. The “Greenhouse Effect” is an important example of an environmental problem caused by pollution.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Energy is an inseparable part of our lives. Energy provides for our basic survival and gives shape to our aspirations and dreams. </p>
<p>Our resources of energy, like fossil fuel reserves and natural gas, are decreasing day by day; while at the same time, the demand for energy in our country and across the globe is increasing. Therefore, it is extremely important to understand, develop and explore other forms of energy resources.</p>
<p>Renewable energy resources like the sun and wind play a major role in the development of a<br />
sustainable future. The younger generation, especially, have to understand that the issue of energy has a major impact on their future lives. </p>
<p>For this reason, there is a great need for education about renewable energy options, such as solar energy. As well, many of the environmental concerns of the earth are due to pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. The “Greenhouse Effect” is an important example of an environmental problem caused by pollution.</p>
<p>You can build a quick solar energy cooker (see the next article) that you can then use to cook a variety of foods. It can be a fun project that may even inspire you to build a full size solar oven, which is also an easy project that anyone can do.</p>
<p>SOLAR HEATING</p>
<p>Solar heating is an important and very practical step towards a sustainable future. The objective of the activities in this section is to design and build devices that utilize the sun’s energy as heat.</p>
<p>Solar heating starts with solar collectors which are divided into two basic groups: flat plate and focusing collectors.</p>
<p>The flat plate collector absorbs the sun’s energy and converts it into heat, while the focusing collector concentrates the sunlight either by reflecting or refracting to achieve higher temperatures.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are thousands of different solar powered gadgets available from solar mailboxes to solar watches and more. Solar powered gadgets are getting cheaper as the solar panel technology improves and gets less expensive to manufacture.</p>
<p>Heres a few of the innovative solar gadgets available on the market today and some examples of specific solar powered products to consider.</p>
<p>What about gadgets with built-in batteries? When it comes to charging your phone or iPod, the sun has been left you cold.</p>
<p>One innovative product, HYmini, is a universal power charger that uses wind and solar energy to top up most gadgets, and it comes with mini solar panels and extra batteries. Twenty minutes of wind power will provide 30 minutes of iPod time.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Flashlights &#8211; </strong><br />
Hand-held solar flashlights operate for nearly three hours when fully charged, and can be mounted on a bicycle for nighttime rides. Some of the features for this cool gadget are AM FM reception — AM range: 525-1650 KHz, FM range: 88-108 MHz; Built-in dynamo generator with manual winding lever, Built-in flashlight (with clear, amber and red lenses); Hi-fi speaker and 3.5mm earphone jack.</p>
<p>A solar powered flashlight that can also charge your cell phone, MP3 player, or PDA is on useful and versatile solar powered gadget. The ultra-bright LED flashlight (65,000MCD) uses mono-crystalline silicon solar panels for power generation and recharging the built-in 700mAh/3.6v NI-MH battery.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Tents &#8211; </strong><br />
Yes, it is a tent that comes with it&#8217;s own solar panel and integrated, interior LED lights. You can also use the solar panels independently to charge batteries. It&#8217;s approximately 4-6 hours of direct light to yield 2-4 hours tent light. The 7&#8243; (18 cm) solar panel is placed on the top of the tent&#8217;s hub and clicked into place. The fly is then placed on top of solar panel &amp; tent, and sun will charge the panel through the clear PVC window at the top of the fly. The tent comes in as 4-person and a 6-person versions.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Lighters &#8211; </strong><br />
This great solar fire starter is perfect for backpacking, boating, hiking and as a solar survival tool.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Tombstones &#8211; </strong><br />
Vidstone developed the solar powered Serenity Panel, &#8216;Utilizing ground-breaking solar-powered technology, this weather-proof LCD panel provides families and friends with a timeless way to commemorate a life that’s passed at one’s final resting place.&#8221; It adds about two grand to the price of a conventional tombstone and has a waterproof 7&#8243; screen. Four hours of sunlight will play a ten minute video six times. Michael at Groovy Green notes that &#8216;There’s even a head-phone jack to limit your groove from beyond the grave to inquiring ears only.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Solar Lighted Mailboxes &#8211; </strong><br />
Solar panels gathers the sun&#8217;s energy and charge the battery pack. At night, address panels automatically light up at dusk and go off at dawn.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Powered Headset &#8211; </strong><br />
A solar-powered headset is a solar gadget perfectly suited for the environmentally-conscious outdoorsman who loves music. This headset is great for daytime jogging, or working in the yard.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Radio &#8211; </strong><br />
You will be able to listen your favorite radio shows and if you need to see better in the dark the flashlight is included.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Watches – </strong><br />
Swiss-made LeJour solar watches ($99.95), which run on either sunlight or ambient lighting, work for a month in total darkness.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Backpacks and Bags -</strong><br />
Solar bags are some of the coolest green products out there, and they make a great gift, too! Compare and choose which one best meets your needs and your taste. The name says it all, the Voltaic Backpack Solar Powered Backpack is a daypack that host several small solar panels on the back of the bag.</p>
<p>The idea is that the Voltaic Backpack Solar Powered Backpack can charge your small electronics such as MP3 players, cameras, etc as you travel. You can also switch the sun jar completely off to save power. Keeping the lantern in bright sunlight for 8 hours you will supply it with power for 3 hours. If you need it fully charged then you should keep it in the sunlight for 30 hours.</p>
<p><strong>Solar Power Chargers and Battery Packs &#8211; </strong><br />
Solar battery chargers bring a pair of nickel-cadmium batteries to life in less than seven hours. It&#8217;s not clear how long the panels need to soak in the sun&#8217;s rays, but Velleman claims this power brick&#8217;s good enough to charge laptops, electric hand tools, GPS systems and&#8211;we kid you not&#8211;caravans, yachts, and DC refrigerators.</p>
<p>The Solio will charge from 4 volt to 12 volt devices by doubling or tripling the power output using the adapters. There are four contacts in the adapter tip system cable and to get up to the higher 12 volts it just uses three of these outputs at 3.6 volts to get the 10.8 volts for these higher voltage charges.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When many people hear solar cell they give you the deer in the headlights look. To keep it simple consider the solar cell calculators that came out in the 1980’s. No battery simply powered by light. This is the dream and soon the reality of what could be powering your next family sedan. </p>
<p>Solar cell powered vehicles are making their way to us in the near future. With companies such as Honda making great strides in solar cell testing we may all be using solar cell energy by the year 2030. Not only our vehicles but also our homes our business and so on will be powered by the sun. The Honda FCX clarity is not solar powered at this time but it is a zero emissions vehicle. </p>
<p>This means no harmful fumes are expelled for environmental harm. This was a dream in 1986 and is a reality in 2008. Vehicles are making there way to running from electric motors with no more toxic fume expulsion. We are seeing more and more solar devices such as water heaters, cell phone chargers and lampposts that use solar cells for energy production. </p>
<p>We will soon be able to breath easier as the world becomes a cleaner place thanks to time, effort and research. Information on solar powered vehicles from its beginnings in history in the 1980’s to where we are and where we are going can be found online. There are even sites that show you steps to building your own <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/" target=_blank >solar powered vehicles</a>. You will be amazed and on board for the changes that await us.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the early 1980’s inventors dabbled with solar power vehicle creations and raced them annually for fun. From this time to now companies such as Honda have made a fuel cell vehicle that is zero emission. No fumes or gasses to be expelled into the air. </p>
<p>The Honda FCX clarity only expels water. This was a dream in 1986 and has been released in California the year 2008 as a reality. With this project completed and soon to become widespread the next task is to create a solar cell vehicle. </p>
<p>This vehicle would have no emissions as well. It would be powered by the energy of the sun. Some people believe that this is still a distant futuristic dream but if we can have calculators, lights and water heaters running off solar power, why not a car? </p>
<p>Prototypes are in the works and heavy testing is being implemented to bring solar powered vehicles to the world. Plants in Japan are making excellent progress. The ability to use a renewable resource that has no fear of running out such as fossil fuels is amazing. </p>
<p>No more pollution causing transportation. We can drive and know that our children’s children’s children can breath better for the future. If you are interested in vehicles or other methods that are solar powered or simply more environmentally friendly search the web.</p>
<p>You will be amazed at what <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/" target=_blank >solar power</a> can do and the savings that are provided by this energy choice. Solar power is no longer the future it is the choice for today for a better tomorrow.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Chances are that you either have a set or know someone who does when it comes to solar lighting. There are over 300 <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/specialty-solar-lights/misc/" target=_blank >solar powered products</a> available from a single site on the Internet. You may be surprised to hear that there are lamp posts, road signs, highway traffic signs, fountains, chargers and more that are all powered by the suns energy. </p>
<p>No fumes or fuels or other non-renewable energy sources to use up. No pollutions are entering the air from these items. And on top of the health benefits the cost of electricity goes down because the power of the sun is free. There are government offices that have installed solar panels atop of their buildings. </p>
<p>The sun now powers these buildings. There has been reported energy cost savings of $14,000. When this is known why would we use anything else? The facts are that the world is run by money and greed. Men make money from coal and oil. </p>
<p>Most of our nations energy comes from oil or coal production. Using a free renewable resource such as the sun takes that money away from the man making the money from oil and coal. We are left in the dark about how to care for our planet and our health because there are greedy money hungry men ruling the world. </p>
<p>Should we allow ourselves to be blinded by them? Of course not. Do yourself and mankind a favor and look into the use of solar lighting. You’ll save money and the planet and you can feel great that you do.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The use of solar powered products can save you thousands of dollars in energy costs. An example of this is an office building within the United States that installed solar panels. In a short period of two years they saved $14,000 in energy costs. Not only did they save money but the have been saving the environment. </p>
<p>Our nation runs mostly on fossil fuels. This non-renewable energy resource costs us millions of dollars to drill, extract, ship and burn all while causing toxins to be emitted into the air. The ozone is being eaten away into extinction and the polar ice caps are melting away. </p>
<p>Our world is being turned upside down by products that we do not even have to rely on. Save yourself money and save the environment by using solar powered chargers for your phone, solar panels on your home and by 2030 use a solar powered vehicle. You can breath easier and so can your great grand children some day. </p>
<p>The time to be wise with the world we live in is now. As human beings we have no place to go and why should we. The earth is our home. We should care for it and respect it. Take some time to learn more about <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/" target=_blank >solar energy</a> use and the many great benefits that it provides for humankind and all of the inhabitants of earth. Remember the golden rules that we should all follow: reuse, reduce, and recycle. Solar power can help us to achieve this and more.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>By using solar panels on your home you can find savings in energy cost in the thousands. These savings are provided from the use of free renewable power of the suns rays. <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/specialty-solar-lights/misc/" target=_blank >Solar panels</a> are not as costly as one may believe and the cost is refunded ten fold over the years in savings. </p>
<p>As our society pushes the importance of being more environmentally friendly it is no wonder why solar panel use is increasing in popularity. Solar panels can produce indoor lighting; can be used for water heaters and more. One building alone saved energy costs at an amount of $14,000.This is in a two-year period. This method is also pollution free saving us from noxious fumes in the air. Your home is not the only limit to harvesting the power of the sun. </p>
<p>Smaller panels or solar cells can be used to power fountains, motion lights, cell phone chargers, water heaters, water pumps and in the near future vehicles. If you are interested in solar energy products or solar panels alone you can find an abundance of information online. Other resources include books from your local library. A helpful resource online is http://www.sunjuiced.com. </p>
<p>This site has a lot of helpful information that you are sure to be able to put to good use. Consider that you are saving money, saving the environment and possibly saving lives (air born toxins) and you will soon see the importance of being energy wise and how solar panels can be a great benefit to your home, family and yourself.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The use of solar panels for heating and electricity in homes is rapidly becoming more and more popular. There are televised programs on the Discovery channel showing the benefits of solar power as well as programs such as the home building show with Tye Pennington that show how solar panels can save money from heating bills. </p>
<p>Solar panels are not complicated to install and they are not as costly as one might imagine. You are paid back ten fold what you put out over five, ten and twenty years down the road. Studies where buildings have opted to use solar panels have come back showing savings in energy cost in the thousands. </p>
<p>Using solar energy is not only beneficial to your pocket book but to our lives in general. Most electricity within the United States is powered by coal or oil. These resources are non-renewable and will some day cease to exist. They cost money to pull out of the earth and they cost money to break down into use. They cost us money to have it shipped across the nation. The power of the sun however is free. </p>
<p>The sun is a renewable energy source that can provide heating, cooling, lights and more simply through the use of solar panels. There are even solar cell vehicles that are in prototype phase at this time. The world can benefit greatly from using solar panels in their home and beyond. </p>
<p>You can find an abundance of information form where to purchase to how to install solar panels online. The savings will thrill you and the knowledge that you are keeping the planet healthy for your children may be all that you need to make a change in your energy use.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You can save yourself thousands of dollars in the cost of traditional energy resources. Fossil fuels such as oil and coal create a greater cost as we have to drill or mine, ship and burn these resources for energy. </p>
<p>This is done all while creating fumes and toxins that create illnesses such as cancer and eat away the protective layers of the ozone which causes damages once more. There is a smarter way to produce the energy that we need while keeping the earth and ourselves safe from harm. Solar power was once thought of as a futuristic method for space travelers. </p>
<p>Instead it is in use today in calculators, cell phone chargers, solar panels and more. We are using a renewable resource of energy this way. It costs less, as it is free to harvest. We do not have to ship solar energy. The suns rays do not create toxic fumes that kill or maim people and our planet. </p>
<p>With resources such as solar power why should we continue to destroy our planet and ourselves through other options? Quite often this is due to the greed of man. Money and power make the world go round for the human race. They say what we should spend and how much and on what. Why let these people rule over us in this manner. Make your choice to be free and harvest the power of the sun. Protect yourself your family and the planet that wee call home. Don’t wait another minute, do it today.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you pay any attention to the news, chances are that you have heard a bit about <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/" target=_blank >solar power</a>as of late. In fact, solar power has been a main topic of conversation for quite some time now. </p>
<p>After all, if scientists and other experts can learn how to use solar power, it is going to take a large strain off of many other resources. For this reason, it is safe to say that solar power is going to become more prevalent in the near future.</p>
<p>Generally speaking, solar power is nothing more than the use of solar radiation from the sun in order to produce energy. As you can imagine, as long as the sun stay around, it is more than possible to use solar power. </p>
<p>The only reason that solar power would stop working would be if the sun were to go away. And obviously, if this happens the world will have much bigger problems. Solar power has been used for a long time, but it is only now that more and more people are trying to decide the best ways to use it.</p>
<p>At this time solar energy is used for a wide range of tasks including: heating water, heating buildings, powering cars, and much more. And this is only the beginning of what solar power has to offer. </p>
<p>All in all, it will be interesting to see where <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/specialty-solar-lights/misc/" target=_blank >solar power</a> goes from here. Although it is being used, at this point it is still lagging a bit behind; but not for long!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As you can imagine, solar power is more popular today than ever before. Not only are there a lot of people who are interested in the development side of things, but the same thing holds true for those who are simply watching the industry. When it comes down to it, the future of the earth depends on the development of solar power. </p>
<p>This is not to say that things are going to get real bad if solar power lags behind, but it is definitely something to keep an eye on. After all, if solar power can become popular all over the world, pollution will decrease and the way that people live will get much better.</p>
<p>If you are interested in keeping an eye on solar power development, all you have to do is take the time to watch television. Better yet, you can get past all the worthless stories by heading to your favorite news website. By searching for solar power, you will be able to stay up to date with all of the developments within the industry. </p>
<p>If this sounds like something you would be interested in, you should consider reading these news stories on a daily basis. You will be surprised at how much you can learn about solar power development by reading and watching television.</p>
<p>All in all, <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/" target=_blank >solar power</a> is being developed at a faster rate than ever before. More and more people are interested in this, and for the world to move forward safely, it is essential that solar power become more popular. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Unless you have a severe sun allergy that prohibits you from walking outside or being near a window during the day, you have felt the power of the sun. The warming rays ensure humanity&#8217;s very existence. Since the beginning humans have needed the sun to grow food, provide warmth and light the way. </p>
<p>It may just be another star in the sky but for Earth it is what gives us life. There is more to the sun than just allowing us to spend a day outside. It can be the solution to our energy problems. Solar power may be the future of the Earth in more ways than one and in this audio program we will discuss some of the most common questions and answers regarding <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/specialty-solar-lights/misc/" target=_blank >solar power</a>.</p>
<p>What is solar power?</p>
<p>Solar power is the photovoltaic and thermal rays from the sun that is used to create electricity. Solar rays travel from the sun, pass through Earth&#8217;s atmosphere and are collected in special cells which then store and produce electrical current for human use. </p>
<p>Is solar power and solar energy the same thing?</p>
<p>Actually even though people interchange both words, they are not the same thing. Solar energy is the &#8220;catch all&#8221; term that describes all the uses of solar rays. Solar power is the specific action of photovoltaic rays being captured and converted into electricity. Most people do not realize the difference and it is a very common misconception.</p>
<p>Why should we use solar power?</p>
<p>There are many reasons to use solar power. The first is the growing problem of fossil fuels. Scientists and environmentalists know that eventually fossil fuels will run out. When this happens, humanity must have another method of fuel. </p>
<p>There is also the problem with the emissions that come about as a direct result of burning fossil fuels. The sun provides constant power and it is in everyone&#8217;s best interest to utilize this natural resource. The sun is free and unlikely to go anywhere in the next three thousand years.</p>
<p>What happens if it is a cloudy day?</p>
<p>Unless you have storage for your collected <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/" target=_blank >solar power</a>, you will have to rely on other means to heat, cool or power your home. If the solar panels do not receive sunlight, the process of converting the thermal rays into electricity does not happen. If you do have storage, the power will be pulled from there.</p>
<p>What is the Kyoto Protocol?</p>
<p>The Kyoto Protocol is an agreement between nations that is aimed at reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and reducing the amount of greenhouse gases. Current theories state that the &#8220;Greenhouse Effect&#8221; is a dire predicament Earth is facing as rising temperatures occur all over the Earth. This rise in temperature will allegedly cause climactic changes and the extinction of many species.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As solar technology advances, the more compact a solar power system is becoming, which is increasingly attractive to homeowners who want to reduce their utility bills. In addition to being cost effective, choosing to install <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/specialty-solar-lights/misc/" target=_blank >solar panels</a>into your home is very friendly to the environment. In this article, we&#8217;ll explain how solar power works and how you can use it to your benefit.</p>
<p>Photovoltaic means electricity from light. This solar power system uses daylight to power ordinary electrical equipment like household appliances, computers and lighting. Having your own solar photovoltaic (PV) system means that you can generate your own electricity from the free and inexhaustible solar power. A photovoltaic system never needs refueling, emits no pollution and can be expected to operate for twenty to twenty-five years with minimal maintenance. A typical PV system on a house roof could prevent over 34 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions during its lifetime.</p>
<p>The electrical output of a PV cell is dependent upon the intensity of the light to which it is exposed. Therefore, PV cells usually generate more electricity on bright days than when skies are overcast. This does not mean that your solar system will not work when skies are grey. Over the last few years, PV technology has also started to be introduced into urban areas, incorporated into the roofs and facades of homes, offices and factories. </p>
<p>Before installing a solar power system into your home, carefully evaluate your goals. Do you want to completely eliminate your electricity bill? How many solar panels will your home need to be able to operate effectively? Lastly, how many solar panels can you reasonably afford? Before you completely cover your roof in panels, keep in mind that installing more modules beyond a certain point ceases to be financially efficient. Using a Solar Pathfinder to determine the net energy output of partially shaded modules will determine if it is economically beneficial to install modules in those areas.</p>
<p>Investing in a <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com" target=_blank >solar power system</a> for your home or business is a wise decision, both economically and environmentally. A properly designed and installed solar system can pay for itself in as little as five to ten years — and even faster if you take advantage of manufacturer and government rebates. Solar electricity can raise the value of the home and create a brighter outlook for the future of our planet.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Solar power describes technologies that convert sunlight into electricity or mechanical power. Solar energy also broadly describes technologies that utilize sunlight. Sun energy can perform everyday tasks like heating water, generating electricity, powering vehicles and even drying your clothes.</p>
<p>One of the most significant benefits of sun power is that it&#8217;s pollution-free. Renewable energy cannot be used up and it does not generate pollution. </p>
<p>Sustainability means that we make sure we meet our energy needs and ensure the health of the planet for future generations. Eventually, we will run out of nonrenewable energy supplies and the pollution caused by using these energy sources is already becoming a serious problem. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/solar-post-lights/" target=_blank >Solar power</a> may already be at work in your life and you may be unaware of this. If you sometimes hang your clothes outside to dry, then you are using solar power. If you have a calculator powered by a small cell instead of a battery &#8211; then that&#8217;s sun power. Since the technology is relatively new, the equipment needed to collect and use this power is costly. </p>
<p>However, you can&#8217;t put a price on clean air and pure water. It&#8217;s only a matter of time until everyone is using a renewable source of energy to power their home or business. In fact, many theories conclude that within the next 25 years, most people will be using alternative energy sources to supply the power they need to heat their houses and drive their cars.</p>
<p>There are more solar household products available than most consumers realize. Solar cookers use sunshine as a source of heat for cooking, drying and pasteurization. Solar chemical reactions can be used to store solar energy or replace energy that would otherwise be required from an alternate source. The solar powered car has been an engineering goal for 20 years and is expected to soon become a reality.</p>
<p>Cost is often an initial deterrent for many people, but there are also savings to be had. There are great benefits to utilizing solar power. Solar heating alone would reduce the need for nonrenewable energy, create jobs and stimulate economic growth. This developing technology will only be beneficial to our planet if people take advantage. After the initial investment of installing solar panels, a family can save a great deal of money on heating costs.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The sun may be millions of miles away, but we can utilize its energy to perform countless functions. Solar technology has made giant leaps forward in recent years and average Imagine being in a remote area without power lines or gas generators. You are not able to power a laptop, use a hairdryer or watch television.</p>
<p>With the advances in solar technology, there are <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com" target=_blank >portable solar power</a> power sources with which you can do all of those things and more. Portable solar power can make life safer and more convenient when you want to take your family on a vacation to a remote site. Electronic devices are a part of everyday living, so why not take them with you?</p>
<p>You may want to have a solar energy cell that you can use while you are hiking or traveling, such as a flexible panel that can be carried on your back. This way, you can charge your small equipment or a backup battery while you are busy enjoying yourself.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that while a solar cell performs best in bright sunlight, your other equipment usually doesn&#8217;t. Some solar cells come with a long cord so you can put your camera or laptop in the portable solar power which can make life safer and more convenient when you want to take your family on a vacation to a remote site.</p>
<p>Electronic devices are a part of everyday living, so why not take them with you? Portable solar energy is becoming less bulky and more affordable so that consumers can have a reliable source of electricity at any time and in any place.</p>
<p>The strength of the sun and how long the <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/solar-post-lights/" target=_blank >solar power</a> device is exposed will impact the amount of electricity a solar cell produces. A solar power cell generates electricity faster when the sun or other light sources are brighter and a device with larger solar panels will produce more electricity than one with smaller panels.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you&#8217;re drowning in the cost of your utility bills, then investing in a solar water heater may be the life-jacket that you&#8217;re looking for. These hot water systems can save you a bundle on heating water for your home because it uses sun energy as fuel. Unlike fossil fuels, sunshine is free, clean and there is an infinite supply. In this article, we&#8217;ll explain how these systems work and how it can save you money. </p>
<p>Sun powered water heating systems include storage tanks and solar collectors. There are two<br />
types of these heating systems: active, which have circulating pumps and controls, and passive heating systems, which don&#8217;t. Passive heating systems are typically less expensive than active systems, but they&#8217;re usually not as efficient. </p>
<p>However, passive systems can be more reliable and may last longer. For active systems, discuss the maintenance requirements with your system provider and consult the system&#8217;s owner&#8217;s manual. Most water heaters that run on sun power, require a well-insulated storage tank. </p>
<p>Solar storage tanks have an additional outlet and inlet connected to and from the collector. In two-tank systems, the solar heater preheats water before it enters the conventional water heater. In one-tank systems, the back-up heater is combined with the solar storage in one tank. </p>
<p>The main problem with solar water heating systems is that they require a backup system for those days when the sun is obliterated by clouds. Conventional storage water heaters usually<br />
provide backup and may already be part of the solar system package. A backup system may also<br />
be part of the solar collector, such as rooftop tanks with thermo-siphon systems. </p>
<p>Since an integral-collector storage system already stores hot water in addition to collecting solar heat, it may be packaged with a demand water heater for backup. Before you purchase and install a solar powered water heating system, you should consider the economics of solar energy systems, evaluate your site&#8217;s solar resource, determine the correct system size and energy efficiency and check into your local codes and regulations. </p>
<p>The proper installation depends on your solar resources, climate, local building code requirements and safety issues. It&#8217;s best to have a qualified, solar thermal systems contractor install your system. Regular maintenance on simple systems can be as infrequent as every 3–5 years, preferably by a solar contractor. Systems with electrical components usually require a replacement part after 10 years. </p>
<p>Although <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/misc" target=_blank >solar water systems</a> do have minor problems, the technology is quickly catching up.<br />
These systems are a smart investment for consumers because they pay for themselves in a relatively short period of time by reducing your utility bills. </p>
<p>As a bonus, many governments and manufacturers offer rebates to people purchasing environmentally friendly household products. Buying a solar energy system is a win-win situation. You can save money on your utility bills, all the while being environmentally responsible.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The latest statistics from Japan and California show that the cost of domestic <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/" target=_blank >solar power</a> set-ups is continuing to decline as uptake rises, and the future&#8217;s looking bright.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s obvious to anybody that rare items cost more, not just because they have a higher perceived value but because the manufacturing overheads are higher. As soon as demand is sufficient to enable mass production, prices will fall. But sooner or later the market will stabilize and a natural price will be established.</p>
<p>However, the latest solar trends analysis shows that the price of solar systems has fallen further than anyone expected. This means that predictions about the long term cost of solar energy, as compared to traditional fuels, will have to be revised. It means that <a href="<br />
http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/misc" target=_blank >solar energy</a> may turn out to be a still more economic option than anybody had thought.</p>
<p>With prices still falling, you may be tempted to wait until they&#8217;ve fallen further before you purchase a solar system for your home; but beware. Once a natural market price has been established, companies will start experimenting to see how much more than that customers are prepared to pay, and the cost may start creeping back up again.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s more, current government subsidies are likely to disappear in years to come. With solar trends delivering prices almost as low as the market can bear, if you see a good deal on solar systems just now, you should grab it. You&#8217;ll be doing yourself a favor, and at the same time you&#8217;ll be helping to steady those low price trends, making solar energy more affordable for everyone in the long term.</p>
<p>By spending your money intelligently now, you can wield an important influence over the future of the solar marketplace. Solar power is coming to everyone. Be one of those who helps to make it happen, and you&#8217;ll be enjoying sunny days for a long time to come.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Everybody wants green energy. Being able to get the power we need without damaging the environment is an obvious goal &#8211; but what&#8217;s the best way to achieve it? Should we be opting for wind farms, hydroelectricity, or <a href="hhttp://www.sunjuiced.com/categories/" target="_blank">solar energy</a> as alternative power?</p>
<p>Wind farms often receive a bad press, especially when they&#8217;re situated near homes or in popular hiking areas. They can make a lot of noise and because they have to be placed on skylines for maximum efficiency they often spoil views. Offshore wind farms are less problematic in this way and can take advantage of fierce sea winds, increasing their output, but they rely on a nation having a lot of suitable coastline.</p>
<p>Whilst the Netherlands does very well with its wind farms, the US is, considering the comparative size of its population, at a distinct disadvantage. For the home-owner, small wind-powered generators are available, but they&#8217;re not very efficient and often result in complaints from neighbors.</p>
<p>Hydroelectricity is a much more effective way of generating power, using the natural energy of rivers or tidal forces. However, there are a limited number of suitable locations for hydroelectric generators, and often these are in areas which already provide fertile farmland, so a lot of people have to be displaced and lose their land in order for them to be built. They can also have a damaging impact on local wildlife.</p>
<p>Of these three major options, only solar energy as <a href="http://www.sunjuiced.com/category/misc" target="_blank">alternative power</a> passes the test of being truly non-polluting, practical and easy to access. Modern solar panels can still function effectively even in areas where it&#8217;s frequently cloudy. They don&#8217;t get in anyone&#8217;s way and, once installed, they require very little maintenance. For these reasons, the greenest way to generate the power we need is by harnessing the power of the sun.</p>
