A major problem for many families today is the price development of home essentials, such as energy. Today we are completely dependent on electricity. It powers our homes, schools and offices; today there is no way we could ever live without it. Now the issue is that the prices of this irreplaceable commodity has started to rise due to the increasing demand and volatility in the global markets for oil. As a result we need to look into more ways to cut those electricity costs. And in order to decrease our monthly electric bills, we need to look into alternative energy sources, such as installing residential solar power or wind energy. Small scale home energy sources could supplement our dependence of energy from the grid. They use solar or wind energy which is free, is sustainable and emits no carbon. The three reasons just mentioned are why more and more people install residential solar or wind power devices in their homes. According to research, if in the US twenty-five percent of homes are powered by small scale residential power units, possible thousands of regular power plants could be rendered surplus. This could mean great reductions in carbon emissions and a lot less green house gases the destroy the earth. Instead of solar power you may want to install home wind turbines that just like solar power will cut your energy bills, save the environment and even our health. These windmills use a free reusable resource, the wind, which will generate energy without any damaging exhausts that could damage the ozone layer. The one time investment in a power unit will last for many years, generating energy for your household. Windmills work by using the power of the wind to rotate a turbine creating mechanical energy. This mechanical energy is then passed to home wind generators that convert the energy to electrical power for home use. Energy that is not used immediately can be stored in a battery to be used when there is no wind. Two major benefits come from installing residential wind or solar power. Firstly, there is money to be saved by generating your own power and decreasing your dependence of the grid, and two – maybe even more importantly – you can help save the environment. Fitting residential wind or solar units is an investment for the future that will cut your costs for a long time; money, which you can spend on more important things like your family’s needs. There may be another money saving opportunity as well, since some governments offer tax benefits to anyone who installs environment friendly energy sources. Some energy companies also offer the opportunity to sell unused energy if you create more energy that you actually use. There are also the environmental benefits of using wind or solar power since you decrease the demand of regular energy from the grid, produced by plants that use fossil fuels to produce electricity. So, not only will you save money, you can also save the environment from the ill effects of carbon emissions. If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!
